Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American journalist. Her current job is with ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in the year of 2016. Her mother is Maria Antonieta Collins, a journalist on television. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual since nine years old, a valuable ability that allowed her to secure her first position as a production assistant at Univision in Miami that provided her with the opportunity to be a part of the production team for national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then, her CBS subsidiary of St. Petersburg employed her as a sports reporter. In 2009, the news reporter moved from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories on the trafficking of drugs and immigration on both sides the Texas-Mexico border, she was reporter for news for KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm, as a reporter for news with a news anchor in English at 9 pm and the news anchor was on until 10pm before returning back to channel Spanish channel. She was also frequently called upon to be an anchor for sports and weather. Then she anchor and wrote at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She also did segments on Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She also produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. Then, she became the sports host for the morning program that is Despierta America Deportes. She served in the same role for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents are from Veracruz Mexico. Her birth date was November 22nd the 22nd of November, 1985 in Mexico City. There is an older sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico to the US and settled in Miami. After a short time, her father separated from her mother. She later remarried in the year 1995 to a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away from kidney cancer in the year 2006. On a family vacation in Ohio, the younger Collins was able to take a job alongside her elder sister. Antonietta still a senior at high school, yet she was clear about the career she wanted. While deciding if Mount Union is the right choice for her, Antonietta decided to go visit the campus. The campus was beautiful as well as offered the level of education she wanted. After finishing high school, she decided to enroll at the university to pursue a degree in media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU in which she's a part. They had a very close friendship. Professor Bergmann encouraged her to believe in herself and was deeply touched by his enthusiasm for journalism.
